Frequently Asked Questions

What is “Medical Grade”?

When we say medical grade, we mean that our products exceed the standards of the supplement industry.  There are 3 key components to our medical grade products:

  • Purity that exceeds federal regulations:  The government allows up to 0.3% THC in hemp derived products.  MediHempRx is THC-free.  If a test ever reveals any detectable THC, that batch will be rejected and not bottled for sale.  MediHempRx also tests for pesticides, dangerous solvents, and other contaminants.

  • Potency that exceeds the FDA’s cGMP standards for dietary supplements.  MediHempRx products are guaranteed to be within 10% of their stated potency.

  • Peace of Mind from testing protocols that are second to none.  The FDA is perfectly satisfied if supplement companies test 1 out of every 10 batches produced.  MediHempRx tests every single batch.  We display the results on our website, and on every product we sell.

Why is Medical Grade important?

In a 2017 study, over 40% of the 84 CBD products tested were significantly sub-potent.  Over 20% of the products tested contained THC levels “sufficient to produce intoxication or impairment”.  In an industry that sometimes resembles the wild wild west, it is important to select a brand that you can trust.

Can I fail a drug test from taking MediHempRx?

No.  If the test is looking for THC & THC metabolites, there will be none found, because MediHempRx contains 0.0% THC

Why do you exclude THC?  I heard CBD & THC can work better together.

OK, this will be a two part answer:

1.  The main reason we exclude THC is answered in the question above this one:  We don't want you to fail a drug test.  But there's more.  While the average person should not experience any intoxication from legal levels of THC, certain populations (the elderly, those with impaired kidney or liver function, slow metabolizers) could experience a buildup of THC over time, and that could lead to impairment (dizziness, loss of balance, inability to drive safely, etc.).  So we made the decision to give our customers (and our doctors & pharmacists) the peace of mind, knowing that there is no chance for impairment with our product.

2.  While it's true that CBD & THC can work well in combination for certain conditions (this is sometimes referred to as the "entourage" effect) , there is no evidence to suggest that the combination is effective at the low levels (< 0.3% THC) that are legal in supplements. To get true combined effectiveness, research suggests that you would need higher levels of THC, like those found in medical marijuana. Besides, it's also true that the combination of CBD & THC  can be less effective in some situations.  For example, many people use CBD to decreases anxiety and stablize their mood.  THC has been shown to increase anxiety, and increase risk of schizophrenia & psychosis.  Because of that, We feel that it is more responsible to provide a product that is completely free of THC, and allow our customers to seek a more potent, reputable source of THC, if they decide to combine the two.

Why is MediHempRx only available from pharmacies & health care providers?

Did you know that CBD is absorbed up to 14x better when taken with food?  Neither did the clerk at the local gas station.  Did you know that oil tends to work faster than softgels, but softgels tend to last longer?  Neither did the cashier at the convenience store.  In addition, CBD can have side effects.  CBD can have drug interactions.  We feel that your local healthcare providers are best equipped to optimize your CBD therapy, and monitor you for safety.
